Deep work, celebrating wins, and networking: your 2025 success formula
Happy New Year, Campers ✨
I’ve got a feeling this is going to be OUR YEAR. My boyfriend found the lucky coin in his slice of the Vasilopita (it’s a Greek New Year’s cake), so the year’s off to a great start already.
I’m not setting any resolutions for 2025. New Year’s resolutions are like firecrackers — they start with a bang but fizzle out quickly. Habits, on the other hand, are slow-burning. They don’t just fade away, they grow stronger over time 🔥 Habits make success inevitable because they align your daily actions with your long-term goals.
For the first edition of the year, I want to focus on 5 simple but powerful habits that will elevate your leadership (and your team).
Let’s get into it 👇🏻
Ready to make 2025 your year?
One hour can help shift your perspective and unlock momentum. Book a one-time coaching session to tackle your top challenges, build a personal growth plan for 2025, or craft a personal positioning statement to snag your next role.
Let’s partner to get you the support you need to level-up and set yourself up for success in the new year!
5 Habits for 2025
Block time for deep work…and fiercely protect it.
If you’re anything like me, you’re already feeling anxious looking at your calendar for January. When I was a VP of Product Marketing, my calendar was back-to-back meetings, 5 days a week. It left very little time for the real strategic work.
That’s why I started blocking 90-minutes of deep work in my calendar. It’s just enough time to actually dig into a topic, but short enough that it’s not taking over your day. Maybe it’s mapping out a go-to-market strategy, digging into customer research, or refining the narrative for your next product launch. Whatever it is, schedule it and treat it like an immovable meeting.
If you can do this weekly, you’ll have 52 mini strategy sessions throughout the year.
P.S. It’s equally as important to schedule those shorter breaks (like lunch) too.
Schedule a weekly strategy check-in…with yourself.
Before the chaos of Monday morning hits, take 30 minutes (Friday afternoon works great for this) to zoom out and ask:
What are the 1-2 big priorities I need to drive next week?
Are my efforts aligned with the team’s goals?
What’s coming up that might need extra focus or support?
This habit forces you to think proactively instead of reactively. It’s a small investment of time that pays off in clarity and momentum.
Commit to one networking meeting a week.
Product marketing leadership isn’t a solo journey. The best leaders aren’t just the ones who master the craft, they’re the ones who learn from and collaborate with their peers. Relationships are everything.
Once a week, carve out one hour for intentional networking and relationship building. Message a mentor, comment on a LinkedIn post, or simply reconnect with an old colleague. You’ll be amazed at how a little effort compounds over time — and how much easier it becomes to tap into that network when you need support.
At PMM Camp, we prioritize this type of connection, which is why we schedule monthly Collaboration sessions and pair Campers for 1:1 introductions.
Create a swipe file to document your wins.
Have you ever had a bad day where you doubt yourself and your capabilities as a product marketer? Yeah, me too. That’s where your swipe file comes in — it’s your ultimate hype team.
Whether in a Notion page, a Google Doc or a simple folder on your desktop, make it a habit to jot down your wins, big or small. This could be a screenshot of a colleague’s Slack message, memorable customer testimonials, or success metrics from a launch.
Then, when those inevitable bad days come around, you’ll have a reminder of all the great work you’ve done!
Shoutout your teammates and highlight their wins.
While you’re celebrating wins, why not make it a regular habit to spotlight someone else’s wins too. Whether it’s on Slack or in a team meeting, a little public recognition can really make someone’s day.
I’d love to know, what habits are you focused on building in 2025?
