#54: The 2023 PMM Holiday Reading List

The best product marketing books of the year

Is that the pitter patter of reindeer I hear?

It’s Christmas Eve, and all I can think about is settling into a pair of holiday pajamas and reading a good book.

This will be my last edition of 2023 - next Sunday is New Year’s Eve, so I’m taking a short break to rest and gear up for 2024.

But, before I sign off for the year, I wanted to leave you with one holiday gift: my 2023 reading list.

Whether you’re looking to catch up on reading over the holidays or add a new book to your TBR pile, here are my top picks.

Sales Pitch: How to Pitch a Story to Stand Out and Win

By April Dunford

April Dunford needs no introduction. She’s the defacto positioning expert for B2B software and the author of one of my favorite books, Obviously Awesome. April’s second book, Sales Pitch, guides you through a simple but solid sales pitch process that will help your customers make confident buying decisions.

The Pocket Guide to Product Launches

By Mary Sheehan

Mary Sheehan is an award-winning product marketer and the host of the podcast Women in Product Marketing. Coming in at only 125 pages, her book The Pocket Guide to Product Launches is a great intro to product launch in just an hour or two of reading.

Loved: How to Rethink Marketing for Tech Products

By Martina Lauchengco

This is the newest book from the team at the Silicon Valley Product Group. The follow up to the must-read product book Inspired, Loved: How to Rethink Marketing for Tech Products shows how to apply best in class product marketing lessons to your own PMM efforts. It’s a great companion read to Inspired, and a gateway book to get your product managers interested in your product marketing practice.

What I’m reading next

As for me, I’ll be dusting off my TBR pile and cracking open Adam Grant’s new book Hidden Potential: The Science of Achieving Greater Things.

What should I add to the list next?
